Haunted House

For over 40 years, when it comes to Halloween, Augusta has been THE place to be for thrills and chills, and this year is no exception. Starting in early September, kids from area schools and non‐profit organizations came together; joining forces to help create the most spook‐tacular event of the year:

The United Volunteers of Maine Haunted House

Located within the Marketplace at Augusta (in it's new location, between Home Depot and The Dress Barn), this annual event promises 11 frightful nights of terror‐filled fun for all ages. The doors will first creak open on Friday, October 7th @ 6:30 pm, and close when the last group (hopefully) makes it out alive, usually around 8:30 pm.

The cost is $10 per person, with special pricing of $8 per person on opening night and the Thursday show (10/27). The dates for this year's Haunted House are as follows: October 7th & 8th, 14th & 15th, 21st & 22nd, and the 27th – 31st.

The United Volunteers of Maine Haunted House is a tradition in the area, helping to raise tens of thousands of dollars for area schools, non‐profits and community organizations. The kids who raise money by helping with the Haunted House are involved in the process from start to finish, including designing the skits, building props, helping assemble the structure, staffing the various rooms when we’re open, and even helping take everything down when we’re done.

The United Volunteers of Maine wish to thank all those who donate their time, talents and money to make this one of our most successful projects of the year. In recent years, we've geared ourselves up by having a trial run in late August at the Beaver Brook Campground in Monmouth, with all proceeds from that event going to support the Pine Tree Camp. It's a scaled down version of our regular Haunted House, but the thrills and chills are just as big.

This year, proceeds from our big Haunted House will go to support several area schools and a number of great community organizations, including: Erskine Academy, Monmouth Academy, Hall-Dale High School, Winthrop High School, Winthrop Middle School, Capitol City Junior Rifle Club, Dance-U, Maine Isshinryu Karate Academies, South End Teen Center, and the Western Maine Young Marines.
